Sleeves
are being rolled up and waiting rooms are full of people seeking the
H1N1 vaccine. And why wouldn’t you, with the Australian Government
releasing commercials warning of the life-saving benefits of the
vaccine, in comparison to the potentially dangerous effects of the
swine flu.
Chronically ill people, the elderly, children and
pregnant women are encouraged to go quickly, being in the so-called
‘high-risk’ group. What isn't mentioned is that the H1N1 vaccine hasn't
actually been tested on these targeted groups. Nor have those who
received the vaccine in the trial been checked after an 8 day period.
Even strager, despite these convincing commercials and fear-driven propaganda convincing us of the vaccine’s safety, the fact is that the safety claims are based on a tiny study of only 241 people. With no placebo to compare the results to, it is impossible to tell how effective the vaccine is, and what dangerous effects could be experienced.
Are we really meant to believe that this vaccine is safe and suitable for everyone when it has only been tested on a tiny number of people, with unsuccessful results?
According to Novartis’s own Panvax leaflet, several people had adverse affects in the trial of the H1N1 vaccine on 241 people:
- 46.3% of participants experienced local adverse events, including soreness, pain and bruising.
- 45% experienced more serious events, including headaches, chills, fever, vomiting and muscle pain.
- Three subjects experienced flu-like illness following vaccination - one of whom tested positive for the swine flu 8 days after the vaccination (despite receiving the vaccine, this person still contracted swine flu).
Though these results may not seem so bad, it is the absence of ongoing study following the 8 day mark that is alarming. As seen by these results, almost half of all participants experienced serious side-effects within days of receiving the vaccine.
| What about the effects following these eight days? How can the manufacturer assure us that their vaccine is safe, when no long-term subjects have been studie |
According to the leaflet, “There are currently no published
post-marketing data available for Panvax H1N1 vaccine.” Due to this,
Novartis are expecting that the ‘adverse events’ after vaccination will
be similar to those experienced by the seasonal flu vaccine
Fluvax/Afluria.
Expecting something is one thing, but when the
long-term effects of this particular vaccine haven’t been tested, it is
cause to worry.
According to the (very limited) data provided on
the long-term adverse effects of Fluvax and Afluria, if all Australians
were given the vaccine, we could expect the following conditions to
occur:
- Thrombocytopenia (lack of platelets in the blood) could affect 2,200-22,000 Australians. This condition can cause renal failure.
- Neuralgia, parathesia and convulsions could affect 2,200-22,000 Australians. These serious conditions of the nerves and muscles can prove fatal if left untreated.
- Encephalitis, neuritis, neuropathy and Guillain-Barre syndrome could affect up to 2,200 Australians. These deadly inflammatory and paralysing diseases have a high fatality rate.
- Vasculitis with transient renal involvement (inflammatory destruction of the veins with kidney failure) could affects up to 2,200 Australians. This is a serious condition that can cause rapid death.
Tens of thousands of Australians could be seriously hurt or injured
with the administration of this vaccine. What must be remembered is
that once it’s injected into you - it’s impossible to get out.
The
vaccine manufacturers needn’t worry either. Following new government
regulations, the manufacturers and anyone administering the vaccine are
protected from lawsuits and charges if anyone gets hurt. At least they
are protected.
The H1N1 vaccine will also contain thimerosal -
a compound which contains 50% mercury. So what harm can come from such
a small dose?
Each vaccine will contain 24.5 mcg of mercury - an
amount which exceeds the absolute maximum daily limit for adults. For
babies and children, this amount of mercury is highly dangerous.
Besides the vaccine not being tested on children under 10 years of age,
why would you allow your child to be injected with mercury, which is
even more brain toxic than lead?
Yearly in Australia there are
around 18,000 hospitalisations and 3,000 deaths from the seasonal flu.
Many thousands more don’t seek medical intervention, and recover
without event. Up to 500,000 people die worldwide every year from the
seasonal flu. Every death is a tragedy, but why are we jumping into a
mass vaccination campaign for a virus that has affected so few people?
More
and more claims of side effects and deaths are being reported worldwide
that have been linked to the vaccine. Indeed, as seen by the
manufacturer’s own safety data, tens of thousands of people could be
seriously injured as a result of this vaccine, while healthy,
unvaccinated individuals who have contracted the virus recover quickly.
Though the reports of Australian swine flu deaths is alarming, a large
majority of these victims had serious existing health conditions -
contracting the swine flu added to an already long history of medical
complications.
When there is a virus of such low virulence as
the swine flu, it should be ensured that any vaccines are as safe as
possible, and given only to those where the potential risks of the
virus far outweigh the risks of the vaccine. It takes time and many
trials performed on a large array of people and conditions to make sure
it is safe - not just an 8-day trial performed on a couple of hundred
people.
Above all, we shouldn’t rush into getting the vaccine.
A recent research trial conducted by the National Institute of Allergy
and Infectious Disease (America’s peak authority on disease) found that
the immune system of healthy adults is better prepared to fight the
swine flu than ever expected - perhaps even better than the vaccine
itself. The main difference? Being healthy, staying clean and keeping
away from the vaccine doesn’t have any dangerous side-effects.
Be smart about your health, be responsible for your family’s
wellbeing and don’t fall for the hype - asking questions and thinking
rationally could be the best protection.
The Spinal Centre’s Comment:
Avoid
the vaccine and dodge the swine flu naturally! Keeping your immune
system healthy and continuing (or beginning) a nutritious diet and
ample exercise program will help you avoid illness this year.
- Start with a good multi. A great multivitamin/multimineral
supplement is the easiest way to make sure you are getting the
nutrients you need. Even if you eat a good diet, chances are your body
is still lacking in essential vitamins and minerals. Keep your levels
topped up everyday to help fight illness and infection, and have more
energy everyday! Visit The Best Multivitamin/Multimineral supplements for more information.
- Get your dose of Vitamin D. Ideally we would all get our daily dose
of Vitamin D from the sun, however sometimes spending 15-20 mins in the
sun everyday isn't an option. Vitamin D helps with calcium absorption,
helps normalise cellular production and boosts immunity against
bacteria and viruses, preventing the flu. Give your Vitamin D levels a daily boost by supplementing with Bioceuticals D3 Drops. These easy-to-use drops can be easily mixed into a variety of foods to give your family their daily needs.
- Kick start your immune system. Are you forever getting a cold, or
feeling crook? Chances are your immune system is suppressed. Using a
good antioxidant and immune boosting formulation like Metagenics Andro-NK or Bioceuticals Armaforce will give you the support to fight off infection.
- Are you eating all your vegetables? Indulging a little too often?
Get back to basics by eating plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables, lean
meat, fish and some dairy EVERY day. Stay away from the bread and wheat
products - no good comes from eating bread. Use the article Health Promoting Nutrition as your guide to eating for the best health. Need more convincing? Read Why Change Our Diet? to get your head in the right space.
- Get fishy. Omega-3’s from fish oil have great immune-boosting
properties. Recent studies have even shown that optimal intake of
omega-3’s can protect against many types of cancer, including prostate
cancer. We carry the best and strongest fish oils available on the
market. Don’t waste your money on inferior products. Click here to view a list of our best ones.
- Drinking enough water? Not only does dehydration contribute to poor concentration,
illness and fatigue, dehydration can also cause the production and
release of more histamine which, in the long run, can suppress the
immune system at its central command station, the bone marrow. We are
lucky to have access to clean drinking water. Find out exactly how much
you should be drinking everyday by clicking here.
- Keep moving. Regular, moderate exercise boosts the immune system. Immediately following exercise, the immune system kicks in and temporarily boosts the production of macrophages, the cells that attack bacteria. Staying active and exercising everyday will lead to substantial benefits in immune health and wellbeing over the long-term. Click here to find out which exercise is best for you.
